Overview:

Reporting to the Director, Facilities and Capital Projects, the Maintenance Lead is accountable for the structural and architectural building systems for the hospital. The Maintenance Lead will provide oversight on construction projects in co-operation with engineers and inspectors. The Lead must have knowledge and understanding of construction practices, building and fire codes, including but not limited to: project management, ability to read drawings, infection prevention and control practices, and accessibility standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current Provincial Certificate of Qualification as a Carpenter
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent related experience as a licensed Carpenter preferably within an institutional environment

 

 

Required Skills:

  • perform repairs and maintenance to equipment and facilities
  • maintain departmental inventory supplies, acquire competitive prices for supplies and equipment as per Corporate Procurement policies
  • ability to repair and or install commercial door hardware
  • familiarity with a master key system and the ability to make changes in the system
  • identify and recommend building and building services equipment capital needs
  • complete repairs as per Work / Maintenance Requisitions and document work
  • carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
  • provide snow-removal services including salting and sanding, as well as lawn and grounds maintenance

  • ability to work weekends and rotating shifts;
  • ability to take part in the weekly on-call rotation every 4 weeks and respond to the facility within 20 minutes
