At AMGH, we have implemented several changes to keep our patients, staff, physicians, and hospital environment safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

How do I protect myself?

Coronaviruses are spread mainly from person to person through close contact, for example, in a household, workplace or health care centre.

 

Vaccinations against COVID-19 are now available, contact your Family Practitioner, local pharmacy or Public Health Unit for more information.

 

Everyday actions

 

Take these everyday steps to reduce exposure to the virus and protect your health:

  • wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer

  • sneeze and cough into your sleeve

  • avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth

  • avoid contact with people who are sick

  • stay home if you are sick

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. Most patients experience mild symptoms and recover without treatment. More information on symptoms is available here

Visiting
Hand Hygiene
  • Please use the alcohol-based hand sanitizer pumps located throughout the hospital to clean your hands often.
Masks
  • If you have a mask or face covering, please wear it to your appointment to cover your mouth, nose, and chin. If you don’t have one, AMGH will provide one.
  • You will be expected to wear a mask for the duration of your time in the hospital. Our staff will also be wearing masks. If at any time your mask becomes soiled, damp, or damaged, please let a member of our team know, and a clean mask will be provided for you.
Physical Distancing
  • We ask that where possible, you please maintain a 2m (6ft) distance between yourself and others for the duration of your visit.
